Home MenuAccessible Documents
Creating Documents for the DCHC MPO website that are Accessible to all users is the inclusive practice of removing barriers that would prevent access to information and functionalities on websites. An online document or tool is accessible when it can be easily understood and used by everyone, regardless of the browser or adaptive equipment he or she is using. The DCHC MPO website is constantly updating content and code infrastructure to allow it's information and online tools to meet the current Section 508 accessibility guidelines whenever possible. Tutorials for creating accessible documents have been set up for LPA staff.
Whenever possible web content will be available in a web page [HTML], because the content can be presented in a way that conforms to the accessibility guidelines outlined by Section 508. If content has to be stored as documents on a web page, a PDF version will be posted as a companion document and will be fully remediated [whenever possible] to conform to Section 508 accessibility guidelines.
This website has been implemented with Universal Design, in mind, to allow :
- Users to access DCHC MPO website content using desktops, smart phones, tablets and notepads
- Use of browsers that include Internet Explorer 9+, Chrome and Firefox with a screen reader, magnifier and closed captioning technology
- Use of assistive devices like eyeglasses, speakers, hearing aids, keyboard switches or special mouse technology
- Use of the Google Translate feature to convert web content to the language of choice
- Access and use of the DCHC MPO website at a visitor's convenience any time of day
