What is the On-Call?

Since 2000, the DCHC MPO and City of Durham Department of Transportation have hired on-call consultants to assist staff in handling the workload, expediting project delivery, and providing specialized expertise as required by specific projects.

In response to the Transportation Department’s 2021 Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for On-Call Professional Services for (1) Engineering, (2) Data Collection, and (3) Community Engagement Services, staff evaluated thirty-three Statements of Qualifications from professional consultants. Consultants submitted Statements of Qualification in one or more of the three service categories.

Twenty-seven firms were selected based on their Statements of Qualification, which were scored by a review committee comprised of Transportation and MPO staff. Each firm enters into a Master Service Agreement (MSA) with a term of three years. 

The current on-call contract period is in effect starting April 20, 2022 and will expire on April 20, 2025, at which time new on-call contractors will be selected.
